On Suffering & Freedom

Our emotional and mental suffering are a matter of identification. The Self, our true nature, does not suffer – only the body, heart and mind do.

Are you, the witness, aware of your body? Yes. Then how can it be you? You are the one that’s aware.

Are you aware of your emotions? Yes. Then how can they be you? You are the one that’s aware.

Are you aware of your thoughts? Yes. Then how can they be you? You are the one that’s aware.

You can’t be what you’re aware of. Sensation, emotion and thought are objects appearing in you, the subject (awareness).

Because the body, heart and mind are objects of creation, they will always be limited. But you, the Self, will always be limitless.

The teachings of traditional Vedanta transfer one’s identification from the limited jiva (human being), to the limitless, ever-present, all pervasive, Self. You Are That!

The teachings are simple, logical, and effective but not necessarily easy. Fortunately we have each other to lend a helping hand 🙏🏻❤️
